These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Gaavala real-time meeting translation service ("Service") operated by Gaavala ("we", "us", or "our"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, you must not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Gaavala is a Chrome extension for real-time speech-to-text and translation during online meetings (Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Webex, and others). The Service captures audio from your browser tab and converts it to text and translations using artificial intelligence engines. Some features (Speak Mode) also generate synthetic speech that is played into the meeting on your behalf.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. The Service is intended for professional and personal productivity use.
3. Account Registration
Access to the Service requires authentication via Google or Microsoft OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activities that occur under it. You must notify us immediately at legal@gaavala.com if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Subscription Tiers and Billing
4.1 Free Tier
The Free tier is provided at no cost and includes:
- A one-time trial of 5 minutes of live captioning and translation — the allowance never resets
- All 60 supported languages and automatic speaker diarization
- Transcript export (TXT, SRT, JSON) and on-device AI meeting summaries
The Free trial requires no credit card. It is a single lifetime allowance, not a daily or monthly one: once the 5 minutes are used, continued live captioning requires a Pro subscription. We reserve the right to modify the trial allowance offered to new users at any time.
4.2 Pro Tier
The Pro tier is available for $19.99 USD per month and includes access to all Service features — live captions, Speak Mode with 69 studio voices and a personal voice clone, and on-device AI meeting summaries — subject to a fair-use allowance of 120 transcription minutes per day. The allowance resets at 00:00 UTC and is shared between live captions and Speak Mode. Pro subscriptions are billed monthly in advance.
4.3 Payment Processing
All payments are processed by Paddle, our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles all payment processing, tax collection, and compliance on our behalf. By subscribing to the Pro tier, you agree to Paddle's Checkout Buyer Terms.
4.4 Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your Pro subscription at any time through the customer portal. Upon cancellation, your subscription will remain active until the end of the current billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact legal@gaavala.com within 14 days of a charge for refund requests. 5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes. You must not:
- Record, transcribe, or translate conversations without the knowledge and consent of all participants, where required by applicable law
- Use the Service to record confidential third-party information without authorization
- Attempt to circumvent usage limits through automated means, scripts, or multiple accounts
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Service
- Use the Service in a manner that violates any applicable laws or regulations, including wiretapping or eavesdropping laws
- Transmit malicious code, viruses, or interfere with Service infrastructure
- Resell or sublicense access to the Service without our written consent
Important: You are solely responsible for ensuring that your use of the Service complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction, including laws governing the recording and transcription of conversations.
5.1 AI Voice Features — Use Restrictions
Some features of the Service generate synthetic speech. Speak Mode can speak with Soniox studio voices, with a personal clone of your own voice, or — if you opt in with your own API key — with ElevenLabs voices (BYOK).
The use restrictions below apply to all voice features of the Service — studio voices, personal voice clones, and BYOK voices — and to any audio generated with them. They are a condition of these Terms.
You agree not to use the Service's voice features, or audio generated with them:
- (a) In any way that violates any applicable national, federal, state, local or international law or regulation;
- (b) For the purpose of exploiting, harming or attempting to exploit or harm minors in any way;
- (c) To generate or disseminate verifiably false information and/or content with the purpose of harming others;
- (d) To generate or disseminate personal identifiable information that can be used to harm an individual;
- (e) To generate or disseminate information and/or content (e.g. images, code, posts, articles), and place the information and/or content in any context (e.g. a bot generating posts) without expressly and intelligibly disclaiming that the information and/or content is machine generated;
- (f) To defame, disparage or otherwise harass others;
- (g) To impersonate or attempt to impersonate (e.g. deepfakes) others without their consent;
- (h) For fully automated decision making that adversely impacts an individual's legal rights or otherwise creates or modifies a binding, enforceable obligation;
- (i) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against or harming individuals or groups based on online or offline social behavior or known or predicted personal or personality characteristics;
- (j) To exploit any of the vulnerabilities of a specific group of persons based on their age, social, physical or mental characteristics, in order to materially distort the behavior of a person pertaining to that group in a manner that causes or is likely to cause that person or another person physical or psychological harm;
- (k) For any use intended to or which has the effect of discriminating against individuals or groups based on legally protected characteristics or categories;
- (l) To provide medical advice and medical results interpretation;
- (m) To generate or disseminate information for the purpose to be used for administration of justice, law enforcement, immigration or asylum processes, such as predicting that an individual will commit fraud or crime (e.g. by text profiling, drawing causal relationships between assertions made in documents, indiscriminate and arbitrarily-targeted use).
Machine-generated content disclosure. If you record, distribute, publish, or otherwise share audio generated by the Service's voice features in any context, you are responsible for expressly and intelligibly disclosing that the audio is machine generated, as required by item (e) above.
Voice cloning consent. If you use voice cloning features, you confirm that you have obtained the consent of the person whose voice is cloned. Impersonating another person without their consent (item (g)) is prohibited across every voice feature of the Service.
Output responsibility. You are accountable for the audio output you generate with the Service's voice features and for its subsequent uses.
6. Intellectual Property
6.1 Our Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and all content we create, is owned by Gaavala and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our intellectual property.
6.2 Your Content
You retain all rights to audio content you process through the Service. We do not claim ownership of your meeting content, transcriptions, or translations. As described in our Privacy Policy, meeting audio is streamed directly from your browser to our speech provider over an encrypted connection — it never passes through Gaavala's servers — and we do not store your transcriptions on our servers.
7. Privacy
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability
8.1 Service Provided "As Is"
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT TRANSCRIPTION OR TRANSLATION OUTPUT WILL BE ACCURATE.
8.2 Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, GAAVALA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING UNDER THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR (B) $50 USD.
8.3 Transcription Accuracy
AI-generated transcriptions and translations may contain errors. You acknowledge that the Service is an assistive tool and should not be relied upon as the sole record of any meeting or conversation.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gaavala and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights.
10. Service Availability and Modifications
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the Service (or any part thereof) at any time, with or without notice. We will make reasonable efforts to provide advance notice of significant changes that affect paid subscribers.
11. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice, if you violate these Terms or if we determine that your use poses a risk to other users or the integrity of the Service. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
12. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Turkey, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Turkey.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms on this page with a new effective date and, where appropriate, by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
